Zeroth Cloud

An AI-powered threat management platform automating the prevention, detection and response to digital threats for African civil society organisations in under one hour. Built on behavioural pattern analysis, Zeroth Cloud replaces reactive, help-desk-dependent models with proactive, machine-speed defence against threats invisible to traditional signature-based systems.

RT Graduate Trainee Programme

A three-month intensive development programme designed to identify and cultivate the next generation of digital resilience professionals in Africa, directly addressing the structural talent deficit in the region’s cybersecurity landscape.

Key outcome. Expanded the continent’s talent pipeline with heavily vetted, newly capable digital security practitioners.

CSR-Hub Programmes

Delivered in partnership with the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), RT provides structured digital security training and individualised coaching across Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal. The curriculum covers threat identification, secure communications, risk assessment and incident response.

Key outcome. Phase III strengthened the digital security capacity of 43 civil society organisations, with 81% recording measurable improvements in security posture.

Spyware Accountability Initiative

Building on RT’s establishment of Purple Lab, the continent’s dedicated surveillance research facility, this initiative convenes Africa’s first pan-African spyware accountability consortium spanning West, East and Southern Africa.

Key outcome. Backed by $130,000 from a leading international justice fund, the consortium is building shared forensic infrastructure and translating technical findings into regional policy advocacy.

MAMA Network investigation

TechSoup AI Training of Trainers

Part of TechSoup’s “AI for Social Change” initiative across 10 countries in the EMEA region. Serving as a regional representative, RT equips civil society organisations with practical generative AI skills tailored safely to the African context.

Key outcome. Delivered foundational training-of-trainers sessions in Nairobi, driving localised training delivery and case study development scaling through April 2027.

The Resilience Model

RT’s proprietary three-layer framework for structuring civil society digital defence. Built in partnership with The Engine Room as a self-assessment platform, it organises risks by severity and proximity to core operations, from critical threats like spyware to long-term infrastructure vulnerabilities.

Key outcome. Adopted by over 40 organisations across West Africa as their primary structural defence framework.

MDIF Digital Security Training

A targeted digital security workshop delivered under the Nigeria Media Innovation Program (NAMIP) in partnership with the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF), designed to secure independent newsrooms against emerging cyber threats.

Key outcome. Upskilled over 60 participants from 22 Nigerian media organisations, resulting in measurable increases in operational preparedness.

RT-10: Building the Resilience Model

The foundational research initiative spanning Uganda, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Tanzania. Working directly with regional CSOs, RT-10 answered the critical question of what cost-effective, contextually relevant cybersecurity intervention looks like for African civil society.

Key outcome. Produced RT’s core Resilience Model, subsequently presented at DRIF24 and RightsCon25.

Infrastructure hardening for media organisations and human rights defenders

Implemented in partnership with Internews, this project delivered technical remediation, including malware removal, CMS upgrades, SSL deployment and automated backups, alongside tailored security policies and in-office capacity building for frontline organisations facing active risks.

Key outcome. 36 staff trained across five Nigerian organisations, all successfully transitioning from reactive targets to digitally defensible operations.

HiiL Justice Innovation Accelerator

Justice innovators handle highly sensitive data, often with minimal security infrastructure. Partnering with The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL), RT designed a hands-on digital security programme embedding threat identification, device hardening and data protection directly into participants’ operational workflows.

Key outcome. Participating legal-tech and justice organisations now operate with measurably stronger digital defences.

Spyware Fellowship

Africa’s first homegrown training programme addressing the structural gap in local capacity to investigate state-deployed commercial spyware. Over four months, fellows were trained in mobile forensics, OSINT and the legal frameworks governing surveillance across the continent.

Key outcome. Five fellows trained; produced a flagship, continent-wide analysis of spyware governance that laid the groundwork for future policy reform.
